In the video “Web 2.0 … The
Machine is Us/ing us” by Michael Wesch we’re
shows how the world is changing, we are teaching it how to learn and to be us,
but without us its nothing. The Internet
gives us an opportunity to change, edit, and delete information. Each keystroke
teaches the machine. The things we work
on with the machine have the potential to generate ideas. An internet search is
an example of how distinct words merge to create new ideas and improvements.
The web has grown and rather than just linking us to information it links us to
each other. These links are moments of brainpower, lead to discoveries, and ultimately to a better
functioning society. We the people are
making a machine, but without us there is no machine to make.
Michael Wesch’s video highlights
a relationship between the machine and the user is a natural necessary part of
modern day creativity. In today’s world students heavily rely on technology
which in turn feeds the machine. We use the machine for simple tasks and potentially
could loose the ability to do these simple tasks without the machine. A state of dependency would result in making
us weaker. The machine that makes us
strong could in the end make us weak.
