Summary:
The video “Did You Know” by Karl Fisch, it shows
that knowledge is power. China and India are some of the most populated
countries, one example of this is that if you were to ship every job in the
U.S. to china they would still have labor surplus. Another is that in 6 minutes
60 babies born in the U.S. 244 in China, and 351 in India. China also has 25% of the highest IQ’s with
India having 28%. This means that in these country’s they have more honors
students the we do here, in the U.S. China is statically a smarter country
which is proven by the fact that they will soon become the number one English
speaking country in the world. Here in the U.S. the top 10 job demands in 2010
didn’t exist in 2004. We are so technologically advanced that technology now
doubles every 2 years, in 2013 we will have a computer as smart as the Human
brain, and by 2049 we will have one that exceeds the human race. Looking back,
we are advancing so fast and efficiently that having the knowledge to do it all
is the key to success.
Response:
When I read all of the facts in the video “Did You
Know?” it really made me think of how advanced our generation is. With the
stress and daily routine we experience is distinct from previous generations. Today
we have access to so much technology. The
fact that one week of the New York Times contains more information than anyone in the 18th
century would have learned in a lifetime affirms the difference in lifestyle
and perspective. My generation will have so many more advancements and
opportunities. We will have to address problems never seen before and experience
resource extinctions and population problems of such a magnitude other
generation experience may not provide viable solutions. Shift happens….
